CDHD Offers FREE Tobacco Cessation Classes
If you’ve made a New Year’s resolution to kick tobacco, the Central District Health Department (CDHD) has the help you need to be successful. Starting January 4, 2013, CDHD will offer the first of two Tobacco Cessation classes that will be held every Friday in January and February 2013 at the Fort Boise Community Center. These classes are designed for teen smokers, but anyone is welcome to enroll. Call CDHD at 375-5211 to register or for more information. The complete list of classes and providers is available online at www.cdhd.idaho.gov/CHEC/Tobacco/cessation.htm. Research shows that enrolling in cessation classes improves the success rate of people trying to kick tobacco. Each CDHD Tobacco Cessation class involves four two-hour sessions. During the class, participants gain the tools and support needed to beat tobacco once and for all. Tobacco users can also get Free Nicotine Replacement Therapy by enrolling with the Idaho Quitline or Idaho Quitnet program. Call 1-800-QUIT-NOW (784-8669) or log on to www.idaho.quitnet.com. Tobacco users can request a free four-week supply of their choice of nicotine patches, gum or lozenges.
