Danse Orientale, originally folk dances of the Middle-East and Africa, is one of the few dance styles you can continue to do as you age. Also known as "Belly Dance," the non-impact and low-impact movements provide a total body workout without putting stress on joints. The dance moves strengthen and tone the whole body, especially the core muscles necessary for balance and good posture. Unlike traditional exercise, it is fun and artistic! A study by Stanford University found that the activity which was best at preventing Alzheimer's Disease was social dance.
